Job seeking advice from a Musgrave

A double page spread in the Mail on Sunday yesterday all about the Musgrave family who have bought (or are buying – legal blah de blah notwithstanding) the Superquinn chain of supermarkets.

Under the headline ‘Grocery monarchs at play’, we are afforded a glimpse of the lifestyle the family enjoys. The opening paragraph sets the tone for the piece :

“A visitor to Cork once asked the well-heeled gentleman next to him at a party what he did for a living. The man drew himself to his full height. Imperiously, he replied simply:  ’I am a Musgrave.’ “

Hard to believe anyone would actually say something like that so I take it with a pinch of salt. Further on down we learn that the daughter of one of the Musgrave brothers with an estimated worth of €48m can “roam the globe with friends”. 24 year old Aimie Musgrave  left Ireland for Australia in January. According to the Mail, she offered some advice to jobseekers on her Facebook page before leaving.

“Got offered two jobs in cork, recession???? NO WAY am i taking them or staying are you mad just saying Irish people love to complain there’s work out there if u just get off your asses!.”

Yeah, that’s right you lazy, non-heirs to who knows how many millions,  good for nothing, layabout Irish people. Get up off your arses and do something. Failing that, spend what little you have in one of the ever growing number of retail outlets owned by Musgrave.
