Just-Eat.ie had a great promotion last Friday. 25% discount on take away food orders. Perfect excuse to have a night off cooking
There were 4 people to order for – 2 wanted Chinese and 2 wanted Indian. Ordered Indian first and applied the discount code. Then went through new order process for the Chinese food but the discount code wasn’t accepted.
AGGGGH. Code could only be used once. If only I’d known this before ordering we all could have ordered from the one takeaway. One of those situations where you go “why didn’t they put that in the terms & conditions”.. Anyway, the food was lovely and hit the spot on a nice sunny Friday evening.
I still wanted to give some feedback to Just-Eat on the promotion so I popped on to their facebook page later that night. WOW. It was a hive of activity. Haven’t seen a Facebook page as busy before. Plugged in my comment about the promotion
“Ordered for 4 people this evening . 2 wanted Indian. 2 wanted Chinese . Ordered the Indian first and got the 25% off. Ordered chinese then but voucher couldn’t be used. Wish you guys had flagged that on your terms and conditions before I placed order. We could all have ordered in same place .”
Within a couple of minutes, Emer, the marketing manager of Just-eat replied asking to send an email. Impressive. It was well after 11 pm. How many Irish businesses have marketing managers on Facebook fielding customer queries up to midnight on a Friday night? Very few I’d say. She subsequently credited my account as a goodwill gesture which was very generous.
Purpose of this post is just to give a shout out to an Irish company making good use of social media and providing excellent customer service. They get my thumbs up. If you haven’t used them before, you should give them a whirl.
Thank you very much for your lovely comment about JustEat.ie. I am delighted you had a good experience and that you would recommend us. As Marketing Manager for JustEat I feel it’s important to have a presence online after 6pm as that’s when most people are online. James my boss and the MD has never required me to be online after hours but I happen to have a major interest in social media & I guess I am never far from my iPhone or laptop so I participate whenever possible.
We are always glad to help customers of JustEat.ie regardless of what time of the day or night it is. After all the internet never closes.
Once again thank you very much for this lovely blog post.

Hey, if you are supporting the thinkirish.ie campaign I think you should only support real Irish companies. You can see blatantly on the just-eat.ie website that they are not an Irish company (Loads of flags on the bottom of their home page), I think they are an English Company. Just a thought:)
