Once, just once, I would love…
By… to be asked to one of these events. I heard nothing about this one for Your Country Your Call and only just caught up on the video below. Who is the gatekeeper of the magic list of influential Irish bloggers?

This is going to sound ridiculous – but it’s all word of mouth, any time I’ve ever gone to a launch it’s forwarded from someone else or mentioned to me in passing offline. I don’t think there *is* a magic list, but if you don’t know someone involved or someone already invited then the PR company (or person organising it) isn’t going to seek you out. It’s crap. I know. But you’re better off. I’m on one of the PR companies lists and they invite me to the most ridiculous shite you’ve ever heard of, like handbag fashion shows but would never invite me to a tech launch. Rant rant rant…

I wonder was there a teen blogger at the event. Tommy might have been there :/ A seriously under-voiced group if you think about it, and quite likely those who are using the internet to it’s fullest potential and probably will in the future too.
Disclaimer: I am a teenager and despite the link these are not necessarily the *official* views of IrishStudentBlogs.com.

Sinead is right, it does seem to be largely word of mouth. So in the best of Irish traditions it’s down to who you know. It’s good to know that some of the best of our national characteristics is being preserved in the new social media space. Did someone mention a clique? I hope not. A clique is completely different from this because…err..it’ll come to me. Damn I’m out of time.

replied to Sinead on Twitter that I genuinely thought there was some sort of list.

It’s entirely possible that someone somewhere maintains a core list but unlikely that the whole lot are on a list. It’s simply a group of people who know and like each other. It’s not unusual nor all that shocking, I just would wish that people stopped claiming that the new media stuff was somehow different.
