Breff/Biff/Briff?

Scary stuff this. Reading about Breffny Morgan in the Herald this evening immediately brought the image of Biff Tannen to mind. Biff is a big, thick, inarticulate lunkhead with very poor education. Breff is a big, thick, inarticulate lunkhead with a Harvard degree. You might have missed the fact that Breff had a degree from Harvard – he only mentioned it at every opportunity during his appearance on The Apprentice.

Breffny wants to take over Bill Cullen’s business and rename it Breff Enterprises. He tells the newspaper that he is “consumed by money, or at least the pursuit of it”. Now you see why Biff Tannen came to mind. Biff became a money obsessed tyrant in Back to the Future II and didn’t treat Marty’s ma very well (although I give him credit for the boob job he gave her – nice).

BTTF II showed how corrupting money is and I really do hope Breffny doesn’t truly get wrapped up in the pursuit of money. No good can come of it. I’d hate to see him take up a cigar habit, lose all his hair, steal Jackie Lavin from Bill and give her a boob job and then start slapping her around the place. It’s not something a Harvard boy does and he can never use the fact that he’s from Cork as an excuse for bad behaviour.

I think he’s got a bright future ahead. Money obsession apart he seems like a nice chap, so I wish him well as he works to find his niche.
