Bláthnaid on the RTE Guide

It’s not going to come as news to you that celebrity airbrushing is a given for the front page of glossy magazines. Last weeks RTE Guide is no exception. Bláthnaid Ni Chofaigh is on the cover except it’s not really Bláthnaid is it?

When I look at this I just think she has turned into one of Dr. Evil’s fembots and her eyes are, in fact, lasers ready to burn a hole in my head. I won’t even think about her breasts turning into guns. No, I won’t… Well, maybe a little bit.

We get used to seeing A list celebs all looking fabulous in the glossies. It’s only when “one of our own” goes under the Photoshop knife that you realise what an awful burden it must be for people in the public eye to live up to the fevered stroking of a touchup artist.
