Old Time Irish just isn’t the same

Not relishing the oul cup of tea and toast as much any more. Not since Fruitfield quit manufacturing in Ireland and moved production to the UK. Old Time Irish marmalade just isn’t the same – they have definitely changed the recipe/cooking process. It’s not chunky enough and doesn’t have the same orangey tang as before. They say on the website that:
The Fruitfield Jam & Marmalade recipes can be traced all the way back to 1853 when the Lamb Brothers started making Jams & Marmalades for the Irish market. At the time, their slogan was “Greater purity means finer flavour” and “The Taste Tells” Over 150 years on, the mantras developed by the Lamb brothers are still true with only the freshest fruit and the utmost care being used in every stage of the manufacturing process.
Well, they’ve sold out. 150 years of fine marmalade making in Ireland ruined by transferring over to a big uncaring factory in England. The Irish took more care making it of course. Home made fires with big cast iron pots of bubbling goodness out in the Tallaght plant. The smell of sugar and oranges was legendary and could be detected for miles around. And now it’s all gone, never to return. The black cat has turned feral and stalks the night in search of a hearth to lay her weary head but she finds no welcome.
It’s a sad state of affairs and one that Jacob Fruitfield should fix.
