Tubridy killed the Late Late Show theme
ByLike 700,000 other people in the country, was glued to the screen on Friday night to watch Ryan Tubridy’s first Late Late Show.
The overall opinion from the TV critics and commentators is that he did a good job. Most of the critique centred around his interview with Brian Cowen. Asking the questions he did was obviously going to be very popular. The manner and speed in which he asked the questions was something Cowen wasn’t expecting and he looked very beaten. I even commented on Twitter while watching it that :
“Brian Cowen is a broken man. He’s not going to last much longer. I reckon he’s going to go home and cry”
The Sunday Independent has an over the top lead on the front page that the Taoiseach is upset at “Late Late mugging” which is all based on a brief couple of comments from Cowen immediately after he came off stage. The same journalist, Jody Corcoran, then goes on a bizarre rant about Tubridy not having the balls to ask the difficult questions. Seems like he has a serious issue with Ryan Tubridy. Maybe he’s jealous of Ryan’s girlfried or something.
But enough about all that. What about the new theme tune? It’s a reworking of Gaybo’s original “To whom it concerns”. Tubridy has jumped on the memory of a classic by giving it a cheesy reworking in the lounge style he loves so well. He’s done a Westlife on it and only bladdy well ruined it in the process. Gaybo surely couldn’t have given his blessing to it. If he was dead, he’d be turning in his grave. It’s very odd that Tubridy would choose to invoke the memory of a previous incarnation of the show the way he has.
Someone really should start a campaign to bring back the original Late Late theme. Samples of the themes (and a fantasic remix of the original theme are all included below – enjoy).

One advantage of being home when I read this, I tracked down the Strictly Fish CD, where the remix comes from.
As for Ryan,I think he needed to show that he has teeth for the news parts of the late late agenda, (we all knew he could do light and fluffy) and thus it came to be.
The question is, why did Pat get it first? Is there a waiting list to get in there of something?
