Just noticed this news item on Irish Press Releases

Every Thursday from 27 August between 10 am and 1pm two of Home Instead’s professional CareGivers will be available at SuperValu, The Rise, Mount Merrion, to assist Senior customers with their shopping. “The service is free and our CareGivers will help out any Senior who needs a hand whether it be pushing the trolley, getting groceries off the top shelf, helping with selecting products, bagging the shopping or bringing it to the car”, explained Kathy Foley, Community Services Representative, Home Instead Senior Care in Leopardstown.

The service will trial for an initial six week period. There’s no need to book. Just plan your big shop for a Thursday any time between 10am and 1pm from 27 August – 1 October.

For further information contact Home Instead Senior Care in Leopardstown on Tel: 2068022.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if supermarkets did this as a matter of course, rather than a short term once a week initiative by a commercial company?
