Traffic Blues – the new Sunday night programme from RTE starts this week. It’s going to shine a light on the shocking behaviour on Irish roads – as if we need a TV programme to shine a light on that particular topic.
You can even see evidence of it on Twitter, where people are Twittering while driving, sometimes taking a photograph and Twittering that or boasting about how quick the trip from point A to point B was.
Many times I’ve just wanted to reply to these idiots “YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON” but I have to bite my fingernails instead and scream internally. But one of these days, I will let loose and call them out for their selfish, dangerous behaviour.
Anywhoo, here’s a little bit of the blurb about the programme.
Penalty points kill too apparantly.
I’ll be giving it a watch on Sunday as I’m sure many others will but I’d still prefer to be watching Glenroe at 8.30 on a Sunday.

I wish it were (my vehicle). Instead of which I have become a connaisseur of public transport and – cheaper than the gym – walking everywhere. Talk about getting to know your neighbourhood.
Yes, penality points – I am sure they can kill: Mainly because all enjoyment goes out of driving once you are at that critical point when one further misdemeanour will cost you your licence. I hasten to add that I have never been in that position but a friend of mine stacks up points faster than you can say “speed camera” and “fine”. Did you know, and not many people do, that (is it on ebay) you can – for a handsome fee – sell your unblemished self and take on other people’s traffic offences by pretending that you were the offending driver? How it works is not entirely clear to me since nowadays speed cameras have a way of taking photos so sharp you’d have to find someone looking like your identical twin to pass the buck.
Of great interest to me: How does one get killed sitting in a traffic jam? By committing suicide? I can just see the epitaph: Died waiting.

PS: Please don’t bite your fingernails. It’s unbecoming and doesn’t achieve anything. Instead, inhale, exhale and swear (aloud), preferably in your mother tongue.

Yes,that programe,Traffic Blues,is realy good, very interesting to see the way the police traffic corps do their job.The police have a tough time too, working late hours and in all weather.Last night’s programe was very good, where the policeman told the woman off about throwing chewing gum on the road, and cursing at the policeman, that woman had a bad attitude. The policeman should have charged her for littering, bad attitude to a police officer. The policeman should have seized her car,got a taxi (peoplecarrier) to bring her and the kids to their destination (at her expense). In fairness,5 kids in the back with no seat belts, and theres only 3 seat belts in the back, but the policeman was wrong, when he let her go off again, she was still committing the same offence again, suppose there was another police check-point further up the road, the woman and kids would get fined and more penalty points, the policeman slipped up there,i’m not saying the policeman did a bad job,but he probably was’nt thinking, but he should have seized the car & got the woman and kids to whereever they were going, impound the car,so that the woman would have to pay to get it back.
