Lotto jackpot 10 million wooo

By

10millionLotto

Another week. Another big lotto Jackpot I will most likely forget to buy a ticket for. Another photo in the papers of some actress I have barely heard of looking pretty holding oversized numbers showing the amount to be won (10 million). In Ireland’s Brightest Daily Newspaper (The Star) the photo has “It’s a real lotto cash” splashed along the top and then a tiny bit about the draw. Photograph and words take up just over 1/4 of a page.

Who IS responsible for Lottery PR? They are obviously out of ideas as they continue to trot out the same thing every time there is a big/medium sized draw. The papers are worse for bothering to go along with this tired PR formula. Maybe they’re afraid of losing advertising from the National Lottery if they don’t play along.

Here’s an idea for newspaper people. Next time there’s a big draw, spare us the usual photograph and caption and do something different. Open the space up to new businesses that never get a look in and may not be able to afford national advertising. Have it as a competition. Split the space into 4 smaller spaces, so 4 businesses can be featured and invite pitches for the space. Best pitch gets the space and a bit of national exposure.

Anything has got to be better than another actress/model posing with oversized numbers on the Boardwalk or Grafton Street.

Must be the same PR people who think the only way to promote a new technology company/website is to have men in suits holding a laptop and pointing (ref: every issue of Computers in Business in the SBP)
