Culch.ie gives Pop Culture a new name – and a kick up the arse
By
Really excited about the newest blog on the block in Ireland and delighted to be part of it.
It’s comes from the brain of Rick O’Shea , a man who will probably cringe when I say he’s a maven. Maven being a term I picked up when reading Malcolm Gladwell’s book “The Tipping Point”. Wikipedia describes a maven thus :
“those who are intense gatherers of information and impressions, and so are often the first to pick up on new or nascent trends.”
And so, seeing an opportunity to bring together Irish bloggers to write about films, books, TV, music, theatre and exhibitions, Culch.ie has arrived. As he says in the welcome post on the site, pop culture is a thread that runs through almost all the blogs of those who are part of Culch.ie.
A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to get this off the ground. Anyone who has set up a self hosted blog will know what it takes to get it up and running. To get it up and running for a group of 25 bloggers is even more of a challenge. I give a major tip of the hat to Rick, Darren, Sinead and Pedro for busting their culchured asses to bring this site to life.
Make sure to add it to your feedreader and spread the word as well.

I turned suitably bright red when reading that
You, modestly as usual, neglected to mention your own contribution in donating the Culch.ie address to us all. Touch of genius that one, and saved me from having to think of a name for it…
I’m not a maven, I just hang around an awful lot of very talented and eager people.
