The man with 50 faces caught by the Gardai
By
Ireland’s most notorious road traffic offender has finally been caught by Gardai. It brings to an end his divil-may-care attitude to driving in Ireland. He had 50 offences against his name but not a single conviction. This was a worrying trend for solicitors who began to worry that their job of getting guilty people off on a technicality was coming to an end.
In 2007, a keen eyed member of the traffic division of An Garda Siochana alerted the force that the man, Prawo Jazdy, had 50 identities. Quick as a flash, he put in a request to use the official Polish-English dictionary buried deep in Garda HQ in the Phoenix Park. After 3 months, the dictionary was delivered to him. Blowing the dust off the book and leafing through the pages he pieced together the puzzle of the man with 50 faces.
The realisation dawned that Prawo Jazdy is actually Polish for driving license. Speaking about his discovery, the hero of the traffic division said :
“Having noticed this I decided to check on Pulse and see how many members have made this mistake. It is quiet [sic] embarrassing to see that the system has created Prawo Jazdy as a person with over 50 identities.”
Yes, it is quite embarassing for the force, but they made amends and sent an APB out to all units around the country to show them what a foreign passport looked like.
There is no truth in the rumour that “Mr. Squiggle” remains a mystery man in the computer system too.
I love Ireland
