Lidl and Aldi Google Insights
By
Trying out Google Insight this evening and did a search on Lidl and Aldi. As already ready reported widely, both retailers have seen an increase in custom as people seek out better deals. Just interesting to see it reflected in Google searches as well. Look how far they have come since 2004 and how the graph has risen sharply since October.
Pump in the term saving and you will find see a section called rising searches which shows the following all on the up.

Here’s how Christmas Parties look. Big decline this year. The search volume last year was 59 in September, 68 in October and 80 in November. This year it’s 49, 55 and 61 (so far for November).

And finally. Here’s the regional interest for Life Insurance searches.

Ah well, AJ, Lidl and Aldi – brings tears of despair to my eyes: Germany and its wares have arrived at last.
Incidentally, in my vicinity they are both within a stone throw of each other. A bit like all London tailors congregate in Saville Street and hedge fund managers pile on top of each other in the City.
Don’t believe all you hear. Whilst, without doubt, bargains are to be had in both places, competition between supermarkets is now fierce to the point of lunacy. A couple of weeks ago my son sent me on mission to buy Nutella (chocolate spread, the Mercedes of the species). Since he also tries to save me from imminent bankruptcy he insisted on my going shopping at Aldi. Well, I hate to say it but, the next time I secretely sneaked into Tesco, I found that they sell same jar of bloody Nutella at lower price. YES, cheaper than Aldi’s.
Now what, AJ?

I can’t say I’ve ever googled a supermarket before doing my shopping. Some people have waaaay to much time on their hands!
