Update : Above is Capel Street Bridge. Not Ha’penny bridge. This would actually explain why I’ve never noticed them before!
This immediately caught my attention. How many times have I passed over the Ha’penny bridge in Dublin (presuming it is) and not seen these. What lovely detail they have.

It being a close up, I wasn’t sure which is why I put the “presuming it is” bit. Thanks for clearing it up.

Dearest AJ, my brain has just caught up (for a tiny moment) with the Irish sense of perception. It’s a hybrid of the ‘seahorse’, isn’t it – taken LITERALLY as only the Irish can.
Did you know that the lovely seahorse is the only species in the world where the male in his hot quest swallows the female’s eggs to then find himself pregnant (not for long) before the whole cycle starts again? Yes, Richard Attenborough has a lot to answer for.
