So people have nifty little pouches/wallets and indeed metal boxes with micro hinges so preventing them from becoming toothpicks. Hence metallising the cards isn't necessary. Plus, you just know some folks will use them for breaking and entering and shop you to the cops as an accessory and not the type you want to be either.
