The Herald has it – backwards maybe or maybe not?

Heraldhasit

Ahh, no. Guinness up by 10cent from September 15th?

Dum dee dum dee dum… 9,000 join dole queue in a month…

Maybe they do right in shoving the really bad news down the list. Let’s face it, there’s still a lot of doom and gloom out there. On a positive note – I can see a glimmer of increased retail spending going on. Last week and a half has seen a definite shift in both numbers of people about AND the number of bags of actual purchases in peoples hands.

Consumer confidence has a big part to play in how we fare over the next 12 to 18 months. Let’s hope the early budget will instill yet more confidence into the economic situation.

  1. Would the increase in retail spending have anything to do with back to school mammys and daddys who left EVERYthing til last weekend to buy??

  2. The ‘Early Budget’ will be published late, to accommodate the time required to do updates and changes to it inflicted by this 10p increase of the price of the Black Stuff.
