Ah K8, you didn’t see this baby. Over the last 4 years I’ve seen and photographed countless thousands of babies, so I’m pretty much an authority on how big they have become. And I was speaking to the lady with the baby – and quite honestly I’ve seen enough mothers like her to know she doesn’t give a crap what she gives the child. I’m in Dublin city centre working….

Same goes with mothers giving toddlers packets of Chickatees – all those horrible artifical corn snacks. I just don’t get it.

Babies have a wierd metabolic rate though… it’s very hard to overfeed them, they’re just naturally chubby.
Maybe that mudder was giving her kid 7up because it had a tummy-bug? Excellent way to raise blood sugar levels in babbies.
Unfortunately you’re probably right, but you can never really judge from an outsider’s point of view.

I was born an 11 pound baby and was so fat it was evil, but I stretched thank Jehovah.

You were right to question her wisdom Ursula, I’d have done the same. I so wanted to say something to the 7UP lady but I had to bite my tongue. Truth be told, she looked a little bit brain dead and probably wouldn’t have had a clue what I was talking about.

A parent is bound to want to feed their child well. The problem really only comes when the parent goes for the easy option every time – i.e. here’s some sweets, don’t bother me I’m busy.

Your first posting that pains me beyond the fizz. A friend of mine fell out with me when I questioned the wisdom of giving her four year old daughter a coke, on a daily basis. I was shown the door.

My son, born mightily healthy on the highest centile both in weight and length (both the midwife and health visitor were so delighted they claimed him as their own) is approaching the age of 17 faster than I was able to change his nappies what seems, to me, not that long ago. He is tall and slender. Whilst he appreciates the odd beer or glass of wine with dinner I have never seen him down a coke. So I must have done something right. What pisses me off, big time, excuse language, that parents don’t engage brain; possibly because they haven’t got one. How much easier to stuff your child’s face with liquid/food than engage with the fruit of your loins. I’ll stop myself here.

YAY! Eugenics! Yeah, there are some gimps out there who will (unfortunately for their offspring) raise other gimps. 7up eh? Christ, I hope it wasn’t diet, aspartame is nasty enough as it is.
