John McCain and the 15 foot headstone in Cork

There’s a controversy going on down in Cork about a 15ft headstone erected in Kilcully Cemetery. I saw the picture in the paper and thought, that doesn’t look too big. I’m not great a visualising distances like this, so I took out a measuring tape and ran it along the ground and then up along the house.

15 foot is massive. It’s no wonder people are up in arms.

Something suitably gaudy and ridiculous was needed to show the scale of this €50,000 monstrosity. John McCain fit the bill quite well I feel.
