Irish Irish auctioneers association admits property market downturn

Finally. The thing that every duck in the dodder knows but auctioneers apparently didn’t. The property market is in a downturn. The IPAV’s ad in the Indo today says:
“Get ready for the upturn in the property market”
Although this is an ad for a training course, I think it’s applicable to the market in general. People are just watching and waiting. Waiting for the upturn and the chance to get on that bricks and mortar treadmill again.
We’re addicted to property and are just in a post candy floss sugar induced lull. Soon as we’ve had a rest, we’ll be queuing up again, lured by the sweet smell of sugar.
I have to laugh at the apocalyptic headlines in some of the newspapers screaming “HOUSEOWNERS LOSING €400 A DAY” or a la Keith Chegwin “MY PROPERTY HELL”. Then they try to point the finger of blame, conveniently forgetting that when you point a finger, there are three pointing back.
It’s a crying shame that even a small percentage of the money invested in property wasn’t put in to supporting enterprise in Ireland. I think we’d be in a hugely better position economically right now had that been the case.
Good to see a bit of truthful property advertising for a change though. It’s not often we see that now is it?
