Back of fag box film review – The Savages
ByDipping my toe gingerly and unceremoniously back into the blog pool with a film review. Watched this last night – probably not the most upbeat way to end the week but it hasn’t left any scars on my Monday so far…

Text reads : “The Savages. The story of a brother and sister in their 40’s who are jolted out of their quietly desperate and unfulfilled lives to care for their dementia suffering father. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney give wonderfully warm and touchingly comedic performances as the siblings whose adult lives have been shaped by their abusive father, played brilliantly by Philip Bosco.
For anyone with eldery parents, this film could make uncomfortable viewing, but ultimately the message is that life goes on and death is an essential ingredient of life. All in all, a gem of a film. Rating 4 stars”
