A bit of a milestone

By

300thcraic

Just happened to catch a statistic on the WordPress admin screen this evening. The previous post to this one was my 300th blog post since I began on 17th March.

The word count stats I have installed show that a total of 67,259 words have been published which is an average of 222 words per post.

I started off in March with 580 unique visitors, April had 1,897, May saw 2,718 and last month I had 5,236 unique visitors.

Although I’m not the wordiest blogger in the world with great insight into anything in particular, I do spend a lot of time searching for photos and putting the various header images together. I like doing them as it’s a creative outlet for me.

If someone asked me “What’s your blog about”, they would be met with my eyes darting about as I tried to find words to describe it. 3 hours later they might still be waiting for an actual answer.

Truth is, I don’t know how to describe what I do here. I’m ok with that as I’m not trying to fit into any particular category. Let’s just say, it’s a mixture of lots of things that go through the head of an Irishman held together with photoshop glue. How’s that then? It’s about all I’ve got for you.

As a famous philosopher once said: “It is the not the size that matters.”

Quality counts.

Ooh, I think Paul just insulted the quality of your posts, AJ! Get him!

Congrats on the achievement from a loyal reader since roughly 11:21pm on the 24th of March.

Congratulations on reaching 300 here’s to the next 300 and beyond. It’s always enjoyable, always interesting. I don’t know how often I have followed one of your links to an odyssey of information .The link to Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture being one of the highlights for me. Not to forget my Bertie Mug, which always gets a laugh when I give it to a visitor. For all of this and more, thanks AJ long may le Craic prosper.

Jaysus, you’re younger than me. I thought you’d been around for yonks. Nice work.

5

Congratulations Sir! I’ve enjoyed (almost) every post! ;)

Cheers guys, hopefully I can keep it up and keep it interesting. I’m trying to improve writing as well.

AJ/Pedro: No slight intended, honest.

Besides, I could learn a lot from the likes of AJ on the small, but perfectly formed post. Like most journalists I never know when to shut up.
As a feature writer I’m commissioned to write 1,500 and 2,000 words and don’t flinch.
But ask me to keep a blog post to around 100-200 words and I feel the need to go on and on..a bit like now, perhaps ;-)

AJ,I love your blog; quirky, never boring, always full of surprises.

If anybody ever did ask you “What’s your blog about?”: It’s AJ’s view of the world; no need to fit into a neat and tidy pigeonhole.

Should you run out of glue, please do let me know.

You’re the same age as me! but thrice as prolific. Congrats!

A blog is either really easy to explain(ones that focus on one topic) or impossible(the rest).

How about starting the “no category category”? or the “not trying to fit into any particular category” category?
Being a music geek sort of person I have to define everything into genres so if I can’t put you into one I’ll break down.

@Paul – I know, I didn’t read it as a slight.

@Ursula – Excellent, always handy to have a glue supplier on call :-)

@B’dum B’dum – I was thinking of a new category like that myself. The uncategory! Bit like the undead :-)

The only problem is, no matter how hard you try to avoid categorisation, Mr Miscellaneous will always f*ck you over!
