The Coke Side of Dublin Poster what youse can win

By aj@lecraic

Update : competition now closed – winner details here

I’ve had a lot of hits on the site for the search term ‘coke side of dublin‘ as it appears as number 1 on Google. It seems to have captured peoples attention and it’s no surprise, as the artwork by Eboy is really fantastic.

I liked it so much I got in contact with Eboy to see if there were any plans to make it available to buy, but they weren’t able to say for sure.

I contacted Coca Cola Ireland and I got a reply saying the relevant department (whoever that is), would get back to me but it’s no doubt gone into a black hole deep inside the Coca Cola HQ somewhere on a secret island in the south Pacific.

So I decided to roll my own (so to speak). Putting my CSI Photoshop skills to full use I managed to enhance the Flickr image of the poster so that I could print an actual poster. The result is below. It measures 50 x 75 cm and it’s on thick glossy paper. Obviously, an Eboy original would have much more detail, but I’m very happy with the way this turned out.

I got an extra one printed which you can bag for yourself just by saying “wantsies” below + if you were to advise a visitor to Dubin of a “must do” while here on holiday – what would you recommend? If you want to recommend a must do outside Dublin, feel free to do so. I’ll keep this comp open for a while.

WANTSIES!! WANTSIES! A LOT!!

Regarding a Must do – wow, where to start? A stroll around Merrion Square Park on a sunny Saturday morning and then up towards the Green, then a walk down Grafton Street towards O Neill’s on Suffolk Street for your early lunch (and perhaps a pint). A walk through Temple Bar (gawking at the locals) and then through the Temple Bar food market. Up Dame Street for a look around Christchurch (always worth it) and then perhaps the Viking Tour at Dublinia. Over to The Church on de Nort Side down Henry Street for a bite (and perhaps a pint) and then the 10 up to the Phoenix Park for a quick look see. End the day in a pub with live music and good company and you’ve got one of those postcard perfect ones…

Eh?

Wantsies…. wantsies…. wantsies!! i think this Coke ad campaign is excellent – and the sounds of Dublin ad by Coke as well and am really hoping that these ads will be available to by at some stage!! Otherwise I may have to resort to stealing a copy of Dublin bus some night!!

As for a ‘must do’ – its got to be the Summit walk in Howth – get there for the sunrise, have tea from a flask, then do the walk and head down to the pier for some breakfast (and maybe a pint in an early house)! That’s a must do!
