le craic’s Friday Eyedrops

Any plans for the holiday weekend? Mine is just to enjoy some rest and do as little as possible!
I’m no big Bertie fan, but I thought the speech he gave to the U.S. Houses of Congress was excellent and very moving at times. The unique set of players on the stage of Northern Ireland brought about the peace, and Bertie was a huge part of it. That’s an achievement that no one can take away from him. He did the country proud over there. Woodpigeon’s blog has a great list of ten things Bertie was unlikely to say.

What’s your happy music? This is mine. If Jim could fix it for me, I would love to sing in the chorus line of the next anniversary concert of Les Miserables. Anyone know Cameron Macintosh and put in a word for me ?

It’s only a few short months since Pawel Kalita and Mariusz Szwajkos were stabbed outside an off license in Drimnagh. I read in the Irish Daily Mail on Wednesday that both Pawel and Mariusz’s families had agreed for their organs to be donated. Pawel’s grandmother said that a 59 year old man received his heart, his lungs were given to a 57 year old man and 45 year old. Two young women in their early twenties were each given one of his kidneys. What an amazing thing to do given the tragic circumstances. I don’t carry a donor card, but I will be getting one asap. I didn’t even realise it was organ donor awareness week.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to meditate but never got round to it, an ideal opportunity is coming up soon. The Dublin Sri Chinmoy Centre are offering free meditation classes on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th May from 7.45 to 9.15pm and also a weekend workshop on Sat 10th and Sun 11th May from 11.30am to 3pm. Head on over to the website and book a place.
I’ve done a form of Transcendental Meditation (it didn’t cost the earth) and it is amazingly effective but you really need to work at it and put time aside for it. I fell out of the habit unfortunately, but when things get stressful I still put it to use.
I also have a piece of software called Pzizz which is a wonderful aid to relaxation as well. You can download the software and test it out for free and see what you think. The best thing to do is save the relaxation session to an mp3 player and put it on at night before you go to bed.
Looks like you might be a new visitor to le craic. If you like what you see here and fancy some daily diversions delivered to your favourite feed reader, why not click to join Club le craic. Go raibh maith agat! Thanks a thousand!
