Emergency Planning – lots done but…
By
I received the Emergency Planning booklet through the door at home and at work during the week. I had some time to look at it and I think the Office of Emergnecy Planning are missing out on an essential part of the national plan.
While they are busy spending €2 million on a communications networks for the National Emergency Co-ordination Centre on Kildare Street, the bigger picture is not being looked at. What if all of those communication systems break down? What if radio and tv communication gets knocked out? How will the threat level facing the country be communicated to the population?
Fortunately, I am ready and willing to offer a solution to plug the gaps in the government’s emergency planning strategy. This is my John Kerry moment, and I am “reporting for duty”.
Introducing the Emergency Flogo…
Flogo’s are like clouds and can be used as the emergency communication channel when all traditional methods have failed. They are made from a soap based formula which is filled with helium and then release skyward every 15 seconds. They can travel for 20 to 30 miles and rise to a height of 20,000 feet, ensuring the threat facing Ireland is communicated far and wide.
Only white flogos are available at the moment, but coloured versions are coming next year and the image below gives you just an idea of how the Flogo will look floating over Dublin during a time of crisis.
le craic is currently working on a proposal and intends to put it forward to the Office of Emergency Planning very soon. It is hoped that the investment in securing exclusive rights to Flogo in Ireland means that this time next year, le craic will join the millionaire’s club of Ireland.
Should the OEP not look favourable on this most excellent plan, there are always the summer festivals around the country where advertisers are always looking for novel ways to get some exposure for their brand.
