Saturday Miscellany
BySpotted this in the May edition of Pioneer and thought it was good so seeing as I’m sitting here idly listening to some music I thought I may as well make myself useful and share it.
Burden of a Cross
A young man was at his wits end. Seeing no way out of a difficult situation, he fell to his knees before the Lord and cried, “Lord, I can’t go on. This cross I have to bear is too heavy for me.”
The Lord heard him and replied, “My child, if you can’t bear its weight, just place your cross in this room, and pick up any other cross you wish to carry.”
The young man was relieved. He thanked the Lord and handed him his cross. The Lord placed it in the room with the hundreds of other crosses.
The young man then entered the room to choose another cross for himself to bear and, as he looked around, he saw many different crosses; some splintered and broken, some so large they hardly fitted in the room. The the man spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. He knew he could carry it.
“I’d like that one, Lord, please.” he whispered.
And the Lord replied, “My child, that’s the cross you brought in.”
