The livin’ is easy

Maybe it was the big news of the day when the country heaved a collective sigh of relifef; it might have been the bit of evening sunshine; then again, it could have been the wistful mood I was in having just finished The Other Side of The Bridge (brilliant book – might do a back of fag box review on it). Whatever it was, everything seemed summery today. Anyone else get the summer vibe? Just a few little things about today.
- The brightness encourages me to read on the bus trip to work, rather than slipping into a deep sleep. During the winter months, I’d normally conk out within 15 minutes of getting on board.
- I got off at the last bus stop and strolled home without jumper or jacket – it was so mild
- The Spanish students blocking my way on the path caused me not a tut – what are roads made for anyway?
- The sound of kids playing in the play park instead of teenage voices skulkily plotting whatever it is they plot on the kids swings in the winter darkness
- The smell of the fresh cut grass from a neighbours garden
- The birds still singing away in to the evening, when they had been silent for so long
All that’s needed now is a good summer. Radio stations need to start playing summery songs now. Everyone know it was Rihanna and that awful song of hers that was responsible for last years wash out.
So let the good times roll. A line was drawn in the sand today. This little island needs to move forward now because better things are ahead.
I’m off to hug a tree. Laters
