Fool me once… fool me twice….

Ah, April fools day. No doubt by the time you read this you’ll have been told 15 times that your fly is undone, your tights have a hole in them, your lace is undone, you’ve to call back a Mr. Lyons, your significant other texts you to say its all off. Jolly japes eh. As regards the best April Fools jokes in history, there really is only one site to visit. It’s the Museum of Hoaxes Top 100 April Fool’s Day Hoaxes. My personal favourite is the Taco Bell prank of 1996. They ran a full page ad saying :

Taco Bell Buys The Liberty Bell
In an effort to help the national debt, Taco Bell is pleased to announce that we have agreed to purchase the Liberty Bell, one of our country’s most historic treasures. It will now be called the ”Taco Liberty Bell” and will still be accessible to the American public for viewing. While some may find this controversial, we hope our move will prompt other corporations to take similar action to do their part to reduce the country’s debt.

The one I always remember from the Irish media is a Sunday Tribune corker. It was something to the effect that the Department of the Environment were going to ban wooden floors in apartments because of noise issues. I actually believed it and it wasn’t until next day that I found out it was a hoax.

Anyone got any good April fools pranks played on the today or in previous years?
